VAXMUD was a combat-oriented game inspired by MUD1. Developed on VAX/VMS, it was written in Fortran at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in 1987. The game was later distributed to others interested in it, but in binary form only. [1]
VAXMUD strongly influenced Nanvaent, an early LPMud.[2]
