Myrradel, originally The Realm of Myrradel, is a Diku-derived hack and slash MUD. Loosely based on medieval fantasy, it offers an extended character class system with sub classes, 60 mortal levels, player killing, a clan system, as well as other features. The MUD was officially opened in late 1997 and probably saw its most popular days in the early 2000s (with perhaps around 40-50 characters online simultaneously during the highest peaks). Since then the game has become rather quiet, however.
Myrradel is largely a game for "power mudders", the main goal being to develop your character to be as powerful as possible, equipment and statistics wise. Player killing has always been a considerable part of the game. It has been relatively common to repeatedly hunt down certain players in order to get them to leave a particular, rival clan or just because you don't like them. Powerful transportation spells make killing easy for high-level spellcasters, because they are able to teleport to their victims quickly with the spells. The player killing in Myrradel, however, is "soft" in that the victims don't usually leave lootable corpse when killed by a player: They just temporarily lose their hit, mana, move etc. points and are transferred to their home position (usually a clan hall or a safe room in one of the cities of the game world). The game also provides a special "newbie" clan designed to protect low-level characters from being assaulted by higher level players.
