Portal

Portal is a MUD client, written for Windows by Scott Fairchild. It was made open source in 2008, although many of its libraries were not included in the distribution.
[edit] About
Portal supports various features, including aliases, macros, spellchecker/thesaurus, energy bars, toolbars, hotkeys, mapper, etc. It supports ANSI color, but not XTerm 256 colours (these are displayed incorrectly rather than not at all, so the user will see flashing dark red instead of orange, etc).
[edit] Negotiation
Portal responds to TTYPE requests by identifying itself as only "VT100" though it doesn't support VT100. It does not support NAWS, MSDP, MSSP, MCCP, MSP, MXP or ATCP. However it does support its own in-band protocol called MIP (Messaging Interface Protocol), which works a little like MXP. MIP was proprietary until 2008, and is not supported by other mud clients.
