Aardwolf is a MUD created in 1996 by Lasher and Valkur who were former Aardvark MUD players. Aardvark went down late 1996, and Aardwolf officially opened to the public on December 7, 1996 using the ROM codebase.[1]

In September 2000 work was started on Aardwolf V2 on a separate port, the changes going live on November 23, 2001, which included a tiered reincarnation system. Mid 2003 development on Aardwolf V3 was started using SocketMUD in an attempt to rewrite the codebase from scratch, the changes going live on March 6, 2008.[2][3]
